Synopsis

Plot (Tagline)

I am a bear with balloons to spare! A gold coin in return, is only fair.

Plot (Paragraph)

Bear Up tells a humorous tale of a little boy at a carnival/zoo who encounters a robotic bear machine which releases 1 balloon for a $2 coin. The bear has a mechanical pre-recorded voice rhyming about bear facts. The boy approaches the bear reaches into his pocket and pulls out two coins then insert them into the bear. The coins get spit back out at him from the money tray. The robotic bear speaks in a mechanical tone in a rhyme rejecting his money and almost mocking the boy. The boy tries to get a balloon out by other means. Frustrated he starts to attack the bear. Through the boys harassment of the bear it malfunctions, comes alive and looks to attack the boy. The bear moves to grab the boy but doesn’t get far as his power chord unplugs. The bear shuts down and begins to it releases a bunch of balloons. Before they float away, the boy runs in and grabs hold of them in excitement. Unaware of the circumstances, the boy begins floating away, and as we cut to the bear’s perspective, mission accomplished flashes in red on the HUD as the little boy floats away into the distance.

Characters

Boy

The main character of the story is a young boy aged 5. All he wants is a balloon but the bear doesn’t seem to want to give him what he wants.

Mechanical Bear

The mechanical bear is a balloon vending machine which gives out a balloon and speaks in rhymes about bears. Its turns evil once the boy fiddles attacks it and crosses its wires.

Textual Elements

Structure

The structure of this story consists of a beginning, middle, and end. The beginning will introduce the main characters, emphasise on who they are by the context and environment. The beginning also introduces emotions of empathy, and pity. The middle will convey the problem the main character encounter, turning point, and humorous action sequences. Finally the ending will end in a comical twist which could be a horrific ending for the boy.
